Wellness Programs


Sexual Health

General Contraception
Traditionally, a 30 to 45-minute update covering what’s new in contraception and what’s been around since the 1800’s. Focuses on effectiveness, availability, and deciding what’s right for you. (Focus and time can also be altered depending on group interest and preference.)

STI Prevention

HIV: Are You Positive You’re Negative
45-minute review emphasizing prevention, testing, resources, and compassion. When desired and if available, may include personal account from HIV-infected and affected individuals. (Time can also be altered depending on group interest and preference.)

Men’s Sexual Health
This program is designed to address the specific concerns that men have about sexual assault. Topics include laws, statistics, discussion and dispelling of myths, growing up male, communication issues and high-risk behaviors.

Gay 101
This is an introductory program to address issues related to sexual orientation. History, cultural oppression, health issues and current events as they relate to the GBLTQ community are discussed. This a great place to ask questions and participate in discussions concerning sexual orientation.

Safe Zone
This is a training intended to help those that are ambivalently supportive of the GLBTQ community with information, skills and resources. Following the training members are given the opportunity to display the Safe Zone sticker that conveys the message that this person will be supportive , trustworthy and sensitive to the needs of this student.

Welcome to the Party
This presentation/curriculum revolves around a realistic movie about sexual assault prevention made at WVU. The film is 26 minutes in length but the program is scheduled for no less than 50 minutes to include debriefing and discussion. Students describe it as very powerful.
