INFLUENZA INFORMATION FOR WVU STUDENTS AND PARENTS

    November 6, 2009

Starting Monday, November 9, there will be an Influenza Clinic from 8:30am -4:30pm in the Health Science Center, near Student Health. This is a walk-in clinic for the University students only. Student Health, as well as the Centers for Disease Control, advise self care treatment and self isolation (quarentine). It is appropriate for individuals who are candidates for Tamiflu to attend the Influenza Clinic. Pregnant women, diabetes, asthma, immunodeficiences, and some heart problems are candidates for Tamiflu, as well as individuals who live with people under 5 years old or with immunodeficiencies. It is also appropriate for individuals who have the flu and have difficulty breathing, an increase in temperature after starting to feel better, or those with disorientation, to present for evaluation. To find the clinic, proceed as if you are going to WELL WVU – Student Health following the gold tape on the floor of the Health Science Center Ruby McQuain Pavilion entrance, take the elevators to the ground floor, and follow the signs.

For more information on the flu, go to www.flu.gov.

The H1N1 immunization is expected to be available in mid-November. More information will be posted, as it becomes available.
